September NightBy Betty Paris Late up here, on the dark side of the moon
"She" and "Slice" the resident poet
whisper in the back seat of a second hand Rover from Mars.
Far below, sharp candy colored points of lights
from earth sustain their lover's muse.
Dots, streaks, dots, dots.
"There, there, there!" she chirps and
dangles her hand toward them in the sea of night..
"Yearn thou not for earth's delights?"
"Hardly, don't look there, look at me!" He growls, scratching
his right ear with his left hind foot.
